Say what you want, we were trained from childhood for this shit. Kinder Surprise collections, snacks and cereals with collectible toys in it. Especially cards! Who had the strongest cards? Who got luck or bought more packs! Pay to win before you knew it! The only major difference is that some of these shit worths a lot nowadays. Owning some limited, rare card or kinder toy can net you quite some coins if you can find a dedicated collector.

To be honest Overwatch has (imo) the best lootbox system. Which is ironic since I consider Hearthstone (and any other card game) the worst. Every level you get a free one. Which is fairly easy. It doesn't get more difficult the more you level up. You can probably get one or two with levelling up in a gaming session. There is the arcade that offers 9 per week for one every 3 wins. On top of that you have an increased chance of something rarer dropping if you didn't get something rare in previous boxes. Finally there is currency as well with which you can buy skins and such. Everything combined it feels more like side-bonus to me rather than something behind a pay wall.

Those cards were fancy as shit so you actually got a value out of it for sure. Lootboxes give you a 0,000001% chance to get something good out of it. Also I dont think anyone bought Kinder for the surprise. We bought it for the chocolate and we got an additional toy with it (really, did it ever have amazing things in it?)

I would not personally mind if kindereggs = Gambling and there was a law making them k18 it onoy would mean kids are not allowed to buy them and price would go up But I allways eat the socolate and gave the lesser toys to my parents in games coolest toys are behind small cost ^_^

I was there when kinder started the eggs. I remember getting little bronze figures, cars with motors and a working toy helicopter. That was awesome. Then as an adult I used the containers to keep my weed in. It's the gift that kept on giving.

The biggest difference that I see is that all that stuff like kinder toys and cards from packs - you own them after buying and can legally resell if you want... On the other hand none of the content in any game is our property, there is 0 resell value of such items and with the rise of online-only accounts, even the "not quite legal but nobody can stop you" method of potentially selling your shit is not viable.
